The World's Smallest Cars

by Matthew Sparkes, London, UK on 09. 1.07
Cars & Transportation

Dark Roasted has compiled a gallery of some of the world's smallest cars. Some of them are cute, economical commuters, but some are a bit of joke - there is definitely a point where economical becomes just plain unsafe and scary. I'd love a bubble car for city driving, as the site says, "soccer moms will still need vans and macho fathers will still need a Hummer statement, but if you live in the urban area, where parking space could cost you as much as $250,000 - these little critters may be just for you. They certainly speak to our sense of esthetic and evoke a strong desire to hug them and pat them on the back." ::Dark Roasted

Yes I would drive buy a Microcar if the following 3 conditions were met.

1) It must have a very strong body. The car must be fortified with a roll-cage like structure, and have race car like seat protection, so you will live in the event of an impact. Otherwise the car is a coffin on wheels.

2) It must be fast in order to get out of the way of other vehicles. Try merging into high speed traffic with a scooter, I don't want that kind of feeling.

3) Make it fun to drive, so it must handle well. Compare it to the performance of a Go-Kart, and
that will get you going in the right direction.

I like the cloud of blue smoke behind the yellow one. Just chant "Smart Car, Smart Car" And we will all be safe, small and zippy fast. I think little cars are cool.

They look like they would have very little leg room, and being the tall person that i am, it seems very uncomfortable. I would love to have one, if it was comfortable :)
