Someone do some research before posting! The Liberal Democrats suggested this at their recent party conference, not 'British ministers'. No wonder the Lib Dems never get elected - even treehugger can't figure out that their the greenest of the big three parties in the UK.

Can someone please explain to me why concrete countertops are so "green?" From what I can tell, concrete is very heavy and has to be transported. Inevitably a lot of energy is utilized in the mixture of the aggregates and there is the emission of gases during curing. And worst of all there are color coats, sealers, primers, etc. applied to the surface that emit toxic fumes. Yes, granite is not "renewable," but at least it does not require the use/generation of so many toxic fumes.
