Arm & Hammer Dye and Fragrance-Free Detergent

Arm & Hammer has developed a dye- and fragrance-free version of its Essentials Liquid Laundry detergent for people with sensitive skin. Made from naturally derived surfactants and biodegradable plant-based soaps, the dermatologist-tested detergent also contains no phosphates, bleaches, or petroleum-based cleaners.

This new formulation is more concentrated, which means more value for money and less packaging for the same amount of product.

You can also get Arm & Hammer's Essentials Fabric Softener Sheets that are made from 100 percent plant-based soaps, although we recommend skipping the disposables and making your own. Simply mist a moist washcloth with a dab of liquid fabric softener and toss into the dryer. Adding half a cup of vinegar in the rinse cycle is also said to do the trick. ::Arm & Hammer

Nice! Hopefully ads for this product will make it into Martha Stewart's and Oprah's magazines. Most people have no idea of that there are toxins in most fragrances especially in perfumes.

Or toss some white vinegar into the softener or bleach cup of your washing machine for softening. Works fine and your stuff won't smell like salad, I promise.

I don't normally comment in this section. But i like this new thing.Going down the laundry isle makes me want to puke and gag.So many concentrated smells. It will be appreciated.

So is this an eco friendly detergent? I've looked for links but haven't been able to find out if this detergent qualifies. The same question goes for the new Tide laundry detergent.

jump to top JP says:

if its not a water softener, then it still may hurt the environment.

Seems like as soon as you start using a product that is pure and free, it goes off the market. What's with that? Marketing trickery?

Get some baking and washing soda, vinegar, borax and plain soap (Baby-Mild by Bronner is awesome) instead.

Has a very strong smell that will stay with you for weeks. Total CRAP! Don't even bother.

I've tried this laundry soap and it made all my clothes smell like a musty old lady. It also left big bleach marks on all my BRAND NEW sheets and towels. How it did that, I have no idea, but I do know it ruined about $500 worth of new linens. And I know it was the laundry soap, as we don't even KEEP bleach in the house. I'm telling ya, spend your money elsewhere!

I was very shocked to hear the Negatives about this laundry cleaner! we've been using this for about 6 months and it has helped my dry skin and my children's escema so much! I didn't think that the smell was strong on the clothes. This is what it says on the back of the bottle: 100% Naturally derived Surfacants; Biodegradable Plant-based Soaps; No dyes; no phosphates or bleaches; No Petroleum-based cleaners; Safe for Septic Tanks; Boosted Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. I've also started having trouble finding it in the store. We use less washing stuff now that we've been using this! Here the ingredients list: Arm & hammer baking soda, a combination of naturally derived cleaning agents(coconut-based surfacants), natural water softner, water!
