Verdant

Calling all sustainable designers: Verdant is launching a design showcase and resource center and they're looking for a few good green gurus, whether your focus is on textiles, furniture, lighting, technology, transportation, appliances, or fashion.

"We're looking not only for the aesthetically beautiful, but also something with a story," says Victoria Foraker, curator of Verdant's The Green Room, which will have its official opening on Sept. 19 at the New York Design Center. "We want designers ranging from the super-green to people just catching on in that design process."

Verdant Magazine’s much anticipated Green Room, a design showcase and resource center featuring new, beautiful products that have been made using smarter, sustainable practices, opens on Monday, Aug. 20, in the New York Design Center. (The official launch will be on Sept. 19.) The space embodies the belief that green design can be attained without any aesthetic compromise.

The Green Room’s designer display areas surround a resource center complete with a green design library, research computers, and a flat screen displaying important films and documentaries. It is sure to become destination point for architects, designers, students and the public to learn about smarter, sustainable design.

Unlike a standard showroom, the Green Room is a fluid space- most designers will stay for only a month or two—so it is more of an extended trade show than a traditional showroom.

Designers will be transitioning in and out of the space so those interested can book throughout the year. Products can be moved into the space as early as mid August when the space will be open with a soft launch. Our official launch party will take place on September 19th. The Green Room will also host speakers on green design, and hold events geared to generate participation from the eco-inclined of NYC.

Verdant is the nation’s first sophisticated consumer magazine covering various aspects of eco-friendly living. Verdant’s mission is to produce the highest-quality magazine available anywhere with news, ideas and advice about sustainable initiatives, products and activities that may help reduce global warming and improve a reader’s quality of life—hence our slogan: Smarter Choices for Better Living.

We're looking for environmentally-conscious high design. Eye catching pieces, from funky to stunning. All those interested should send photos, press kits, and links to victoria [at] verdantmag [dot] com.

Designers who are interested in contributing are welcome to stop by the space:

The Green Room
200 Lexington Ave,.Suite 410
