Transformer Furniture: Suitcase Into Chair
by Collin Dunn, Corvallis, OR, USA on 08.13.07

While TreeHugger is used to seeing transformer furniture that goes from bench to table and obelisk to chairs, this is the first luggage-to-seating arrangement we've come across. While the others cross functions in the same space (like the living room), this quaint concept is more of a comfortable suitcase, or chair with wheels that holds a bunch of clothes sometimes. By crossing platforms, it insures that there are few situations that it couldn't be functional; the only bummer is that it looks like it has to be a suitcase full of clothes, or a chair (without the clothes) and not both. Still, it's an awesome idea; more pics below the fold. More of this, please! ::TechEBlog via ::SciFi Tech

Why is that awesome? Talk about a waste of material...Sit on the ground...Get a real bag. Who carries around their own chair with a suit case or briefcase?
Wait, so it can't hold clothes and act as a chair simultaneously? Doesn't that kind of defeat the entire purpose of having one?
Heck, why don't you just carry one of those foldable beach chairs with you? They're probably cheaper, lighter, and if anything, look less dumb.
Overly complicated and unreasonable. I have designed somewhat of a similar idea, but I chose to utilize existing structures (ie what you would find in an airport) for support. It is just rediculous to think that this is a really great design, the best designs are the simplest and because of all the moving parts and the inability to carry both clothes and perform a simple function like a chair is just an example of poor planning, research, ideation, and follow through.
This can and will be done better! Nice try, I suggest placing more emphasis on researching and surveying customers prior to design. Why would I care about sitting if I can't even use the luggage for its original intended function?
That looks straight out of the 80's, multi-functional waste of space.
Is it made if plastic? If so plastic is passe.
Take another look - it can function as both a suitcase and a chair at the same time .
The "legs" are also the storage compartment of the suitcase. ie each leg is a storage compartment - not very large but still a storage compartment.
The seat and backrest of the chair are the front cover plate. The bracket holding the backrest in position is the extended towing handle swung into a locked position.
It actually is good design work, and no I am not affiliated with them.
