The lesson that is being taught to our children with products like this is that you need to purchase plastic products to do the job you could just as easily do with your foot!
I think it is ironic that more people find "Get A Life" is the most appropriate answer than even the good design option.
Although I like TreeHugger for some of its articles, it's articles like these that leave my finger quivering over the "Unsubscribe" button on my feed reader. And often enough, there are too many articles like these in the mix.
I'd love if I could customize my feed not to include eco-social issues like these, as they are often the least informative and often extremely biased in their portrayals...
It's SO COOL, that is to say, from the perspective of a five year old child. No self respecting adult would buy it.
As a former kindergarten teacher .... yes as long as it is suitably explained to the little ones who use it :)
1) Explain that real frogs need our help and that recycling helps real frogs ... as well as other creatures and plants.
2) Explain that only these "special recycling frogs" should be stepped or pushed on for any reason.
3) For a group of little ones - there hands or feet are not big enough and/or tough enough to do a good job of crushing a can ... without the unfortunate possibility of hurting themselves.
4) It makes recycling fun for the little ones --- and something they might tell mommy, daddy, sisters, brothers, etc.
