The Light Drop: Think Before You Turn On the Faucet

LEDs are popping up everywhere these days, and while that's generally a good thing (since they barely sip on energy and last forever), they're becoming far too common to note every new one that shines at us. Still, it's worth noting when a particularly innovative, cool design or really great implementation comes along, and we have one with The Light Drop, by Brazilian designer Rafael Morgan. The clever design mimics a series of water faucets "supposed to make people think about how we are dealing with our natural resources" and water, in particular. An embedded, dimmable LED in the faucet is controlled by the tap -- the more you twist, the more light you get -- which also seems to be a good way to contextualize energy use (though at a greatly reduced rate, compared to an incandescent version of the same design).
