The Alamo Of Climate Skepticism: CNN's Glenn Beck Show

We heard that James M. Taylor of the Heartland Institute, a Chicago-based free market Think Tank, had recently been on CNN's Glenn Beck talk show, where Mr. Taylor basically claimed that everything Al Gore said about climate science is wrong. Technically wrong. You can see a transcript and partial "debunking" discussion of the appearance here. On the other hand, if you have a busy life that requires you to focus your limited free time on useful dialog, you can look over the relevant paragraphs outlining Mr Taylor's previous employment, before he became a Senior Fellow.

"Taylor previously served as managing editor of CCH Incorporated’s disability law publications, where he became a nationally known expert and frequent speaker on a variety of employment law topics. Prior to that he was a legal analyst for Defenders of Property Rights, a public interest legal foundation.

Taylor received his bachelors degree from Dartmouth College and his law degree from the Syracuse University College of Law, where he was president of the local chapter of the Federalist Society and founder and editor-in-chief of the Federalist Voice."

Did he remain permanently on CNN primetime, or was exiled back to Headline News? I stopped watching CNN and visiting its website when he stood in for Paula Zahn. If he's permanently on the main channel, I'm never going back there.

I rarely if ever watch cable news because it is so biased and bought out by their advertisers. Even CNN is as guilty as Fox in many regards as being biased...they're just not as blatant and obnoxious about it as Fox is.

Glenn Beck on CNN. Ewwww.

Another great reason not to own a television.

So what. That's news worth reporting on here?

"Shock media" will always sell, and its not meant to be balanced - if so, it wouldn't have shock value. Besides, society always settles in the middle of the extremes, so the more defined the extremes, the better the visibility of what the middle ground is. Glenn Beck does us all a service by making such extreme comments and shows as to teach us all how to slide a little further left from his viewpoint.

And besides, his shock value worked - he got you to react, and post about him here. So he wins this round...

Three months back I'd not have offered it as a post. But this feels different, as if a tipping point has been reached. A silly line in the sand by an x- labor law specialist.

Beck's ratings have slipped to a low point among cable talk shows and he is desperate to throw some sparks. Grabbing a second rate "expert" from a B-Team Think Tank underscores the desperation.

Truth is prevailing.

Glenn Beck also predicted the end of the world on Aug. 22nd, 2006:

He's as accurate on environmental issues as well.

jump to top Doug [TypeKey Profile Page] says:

I don't see a tipping point there, no smoking gun. He's pro business, that's what it says. Any economist would agree with him on spec, because of the cost of environmental changes. Even if their near sighted.
