Having re-hashed the play list for Live Earth, it is clear that there are many songs about the environment that could have/should have been sung. David Gray pronounced that "Que sera, sera, what ever will be, will be, the future's not ours to see, que sera, sera" was the most perfect song for the evening, but some might have doubts about that....

A trawl through the oldies and goldies for some eco-songs, courtesy of the Guardian, yields some pleasant, and unpleasant surprises. Even though they didn't include "Hey You Get off of my Cloud", they did give a mention to Joni Mitchell's anthem "Big Yellow Taxi". "Monkey Gone to Heaven" by the Pixies explains global warming in the simple language of a children's story: "Now there's a hole in the sky/ And the ground's not cold/ And if the ground's not cold/ Everything is gonna burn."
