It Slices, It Dices: Bibliochaise - Who Needs a Bookshelf?

For anyone who didn't get enough reading chair/book shelf mashup from last week's Bookinist, here's a slightly more overt combo. Bibiochaise and Bibiopouf come from Italian designers nobody & co eschew the reading light, notebook storage and pencil sharpener for straight-up shelves, storing "5 metres of books". We aren't sure how they measure books, but it's a cool, artful way to store your books, show off your collection, and always have them within arms reach. After the jump: the geometric, oddly naked, empty Bibliochaise. ::nobody & co via ::Shedworking

I like this, but were it my design, I would make the top row all cusion and comfort for heads and limbs to rest against. There is no way to be be comfortable in that chair- I'd be afraid to lean back or stretch my arms without destroying some books

Hope the wood isn't old growth and was harvested from a sustainable source. But it really is a cool idea. Do agree about the cushions though would be a little uncomfortable on your arms.

This thing looks very uncomfortable...

Like the cushion idea. Would still like to get this. Any idea how much it costs or if it is available in the US?

jump to top Brian says:

re: "measuring books": my best guess is that they are calculating how long of a shelf you'd have if you were to "unfold" the ones around the chair.

I made my own bibliochaise for my classroom!
