Video: Bruce Willis with a Wind Turbine on his Head

Culture & Celebrity

Yeah, it's silly, but I don't think you would have seen this a couple of years ago and it's certainly a good sign that various green things are becoming more common in the mainstream. As they say, any publicity is good publicity. Nothing worse for important issues than having no visibility (a few short years ago in the US, for example), so being made fun of is better than not being talked about at all.

Did you listen to that segment? I did. Willis was essentially spoofing non-fossil energy production, conservation and global warming. Parts of it were kinda funny. However, it was not designed to encourage others to look for more results from solar and wind electrical production.

It seems more like they're mocking things green, than promoting them.

Hardy har har, its great we can laugh about global warming issues while at the same time laughing at the thousands who died in Europe from heat waves, the thousands from the Tsunami, and those from Hurricane Katrina. Or are they laughing at Alaskans, whose entire foundation under their villages is literally melting away?

jump to top Chester Huggins says:

Shame on Bruce.

I mean, y'think he'd just pitch his latest movie like every other carnie-barker actor out there for Letterman's invariable neutral nod of approval.

To attack global warming is as childishly ignorant, as, let's say, making fun of baldness. That's easy. Hopefully he doesn't get any points for sophisticated humour with the low-brow crowd. The thing is, Bruce looks alright bald - pretty good actually.

Now, the tons and tons of carbon produced by the movie industry each year, which undoubtedly influence climate change - if they were to be dropped on ol' Bruce's house - do you think he'd be so quick to joke?

jump to top Hunter says:

I'd vote for him at this point.

jump to top matthew says:

Bruce Willis is a major Hollywood Republican. Putting that silly (battery-powered) windmill on his head was a joke aimed at environmentalism, climate change, and Al Gore. You can construe it as being favorable to the green cause but I believe you are wrong. He was mocking you and me.

jump to top gmoke says:

Yeah, but it was still funny.

jump to top Doug [TypeKey Profile Page] says:

Bruce Willis' jokes were not funny. On top of that he does not believe in renewable energy or recycling.

jump to top david says:

Did you hear the crowd and all their boos?

HOORAY BEER

Hahaha thats a good one. Nice find.
