Papton Chair: Flat Packed, Then Folded, Then Functional

TreeHugger has a pretty soft spot in its modernist, hippie heart for flat-packing furniture; show us something that can be shipped in an (occasionally very large) envelope or slipped under a (really big) door and we start to salivate. Berlin-based Fuchs + Funke have hopped on the bandwagon with their Papton chair that goes from flat panels to functional chair in a couple quick fold & fit moves. The structural, geometric result is a real lightweight, weighing it at just two kilograms (a whopping half-pound d'oh! closer to four and a half pounds); hit the jump to see how the chair goes from flat to folded to functional in a flash. ::Fuchs + Funke's Papton chair via ::Core77

Pieter,

Thanks for the eagle eye -- noted and fixed!

saw the article, thought 'cool', thought about buying one, thought about it getting wet, thought about my weight, thought it'd end up on the recycling pile within a month.

Good. but not the one.

jump to top MattTheHat says:

And because it's a 'design' chair, it probably costs $200.

jump to top brennan says:

Again - paper furniture? One of the principles of common sense sustainable design is longevity. This is waste production, and I was under the impression that there was enough of that already.

Yea, Brennan - unless it's a limited run art piece, commanding even greater devotion :-).

jump to top David in Bali says:

I agree with David...could you please show fewer chairs on Treehugger?

jump to top Manu Sharma [TypeKey Profile Page] says:

does anybody know the dimentions of the chair???
I need them for school.
thanks
