Subway Systems of The World

The artists at Fake is the New Real have mapped many of the world's subway systems at the same scale, one kilometer=seven pixels, devoid of any other information, and they tell an important story. One could look at these and without any other information probably determine which cities are the most liveable, pedestrian oriented and well planned. Moscow looks so organized and centralized, Osaka is calligraphic, Beijing shockingly underserviced, even less than Toronto. See them all at ::Fake is the New Real

The Toronto map is out of date -- missing a branch.

Osaka is a great city for public transportation between the several private rail lines, JR, and the city subway system. Subways end at 12 though; watch out when you are at the pub!

The Beijing map is also out of date -- they've added another line and have three more under construction. (See the Beijing page at UrbanRail.net.)
