Observe the Environment, Let Terrorism Flourish?

Mike McConnell, Director of National Intelligence, sent a letter to Rep. Anna G. Eshoo in which he stated it was ‘appropriate’ for global climate change to be considered in a future National Intelligence Estimate. "I believe it is entirely appropriate for the National Intelligence Council (NIC) to prepare an assessment on the geopolitical and security implications of global climate change."
There was a quashed Republican effort recently to ensure that this didn’t happen, with critics of the idea stating that it would divert intelligence analysts from working on the terrorist threat. Rep. Peter Hoekstra wrote in the Wall Street Journal that in the nineties, satellites were sent to photograph ‘ecologically sensitive’ sites because of Al Gore's interest in all things green. He also claimed that, ‘intelligence clues in the run-up to 9/11 were missed’ because these satellites were focused on ‘the polar ice caps and schools of fish.’ :: Washington Post

Right, as if a trillion dollar economy can't do two things at the same time.
He also claimed that, ‘intelligence clues in the run-up to 9/11 were missed’ because these satellites were focused on ‘the polar ice caps and schools of fish.’
They were missed because Bush and Cheney were spending all their time working with their fossil fuel and defense buddies, scheming how to make themselves ungodly amounts of money.
LEO sats orbit in about 90 minutes, so if you miss 9/11 on one pass you'll get it an hour and a half later. There were lots and lots of 1.5 hour iterations between "the nineties" and 9/11/2001.
We greenies get blamed for many things but this is the first time I have heard us being blamed for 9/11.
Michael Crichton move over, your green terrorists were wimps compared to the Swampy Bin Laden's that haunt the nightmares of National Intelligence- surely an oxymoron if ever there was one(with the emphasis on moron)
