Gimnasio Ecológico Lumen
by Matthew Sparkes, London, UK on 05. 9.07
The Gimnasio Ecológico Lumen is an outdoor gym made of natural products. Branches and roughly cut wood make up the frame of most of the machines, and weights are improvised from recycled containers. The gym, based in Valdespino de Somoza, was built in 2005 and includes parts salvaged from bicycles and boats. This badly translated quote is from the gym's creator.
I made this work of totally artisan form: nothing electrical nor mechanic. My tools were the hammer, the axe, the large drills, the mountain range and the tip, in addition to my humble knowledge like professor of Physical education. I worked three years, crossing escombreras and asking for the citizen collaboration to obtain the elements that soon reciblé (...) This peculiar gymnasium, that was born of the nature, will return to her.
If anyone has any more information, or can translate the quotes more intelligently, then please let us know in the comments.

Now he can just hook it up to a generator and get free electricity while he works out. Very cool!
Hello Friends from Treehugger!!
It was a nice surprise to read your post and the one of Make.
I will translate for you the text of the author, but anyway you explained so good!
“This Ecological Gymnasium “Lumen” is the modest sand grain that I contribute to my town, Valdespino de Somoza, in an altruistic way.
I made this work of totally artisan form: nothing electrical nor mechanic. My tools were the hammer, the axe, the large drills, the handsaw and the pick, in addition to my humble knowledge as Physical education teacher.
I worked three years, crossing construction garbage dumps and asking for the citizen collaboration to obtain the elements that later I recicled.
This peculiar gymnasium, that was born from the Nature, will return to her."

See you soon on www.edgargonzalez.com!!
"I did this (gym), in an artesian way: I didn't use nothing electric nor mechanic. My tools were the hammer, the axe, the screws, the saw and the pick, also my humble knowledge as an physical education teacher. I worked three years visiting dumps and getting citizens collaboration to get the elements that I later recycled (...) This peculiar gym, that was born from nature, will came back to her (to nature)."
Ok... the problem is that the original quote in Spanish is badly written, so there lays the problem for getting a correct translation.
hope you find my translation useful.
I get a good work-out mowing my huge lawn with an old fashioned push mower and digging the edges of my perennial beds - no contraptions needed ! and I'm getting stuff done - I never understood the idea of indoor gym apparatus - when there is all that work to do outdoors.
Personally I would leave out the definite articles in English, so that it reads:
"My tools were hammer, axe, large drills, handsaw and pick, in addition to my humble knowledge as a Physical education teacher."
Then again English is not my mother tongue, so it's up to Mr. Sparkes here to decide :)
