Doors Open to Green Buildings

Take Action (events)

For eight years normally closed or private Toronto buildings have opened their doors to the public for the Doors Open weekend. Toronto critic Chris Hume says "...Doors Open is one of the best things to have happened to Toronto architecture so far this century -- or any century for that matter."

This year there is an interesting selection of green buildings on the circuit, incuding St. Gabriel's Passionist Church (treehugger here), the SAS building, Toronto Botanical Gardens (treehugger here), the Living Wall at the University of Guelph-Humber and many more. Chris Hume again:

"In just eight years, it has become one of a handful of events that help increase awareness of the city and its narrative. Public interest in architecture has never been greater, but unlike most art forms, architecture can only be indulged by allowing people to look. Often that's easier said than done – except during this one weekend, when we're all invited to open our eyes." May 26 and 27, ::Doors Open Toronto
