CARGO PlantLove Botanical Lipstick

Cosmetics label CARGO has created a new line of botanical lipsticks, exclusive to Sephora. Called PlantLove, the lipsticks have compostable tubes made from corn, a renewable resource. (Some finger-wagging persists around corn-based plastic and fibers, however, because of the use of genetically modified crops.) The paper packaging is infused with flower seeds, so you can plant and water it to sprout a "bouquet of wild flowers," maybe harbor a bee or two.

The lipsticks themselves contain the patented Orchid Complex (an infusion of cultivated Cymbidium orchids in a vegetable emollient base), meadowfoam seed oil, as well as jojoba and shea butter. No mineral oils or petroleum-based ingredients are used, but potentially carcinogenic parabens are going to get smeared on your kisser.

Five shades bear the names of the celebrities that "designed"—a term I'm sure is being used loosely—them, including Evangeline Lily, Mariska Hargitay, and a former child actress named Lindsay something-or-other. Whatever happened to her?
