Live Earth Headliners Announced for U.S. & London

If you signed Al Gore’s petition that he brought forward to congress, you’re probably on his email list. And if you’re on his email list, you probably received the news yesterday that Live Earth tickets go on sale this coming Monday, April 16th. The global concert will begin in Sydney on 7/7/07 and will continue across all 7 continents, concluding with a show in the U.S. Also announced yesterday were 16 headliners for the U.S. leg which will take place at Giants Stadium in New Jersey, including: AFI, Akon, Alicia Keys, Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, Fall Out Boy, John Mayer, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, KT Tunstall, Ludacris, Melissa Ethridge, Rihanna, Roger Waters, Smashing Pumpkins and The Police. Earlier in the day yesterday, the artists to perform at the London leg of Live Earth, to be held at Wembley Stadium, were also announced, including: Beastie Boys, Black Eyed Peas, Bloc Party, Corinne Bailey Rae, Damien Rice, David Gray, Duran Duran, Foo Fighters, Genesis, James Blunt, John Legend, Keane, Madonna, Paolo Nutini, Razorlight, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snow Patrol. "We hope the energy created by Live Earth will jump start a massive public education effort,” Gore said. those with the biggest carbon footprints of all are going to tell the rest of the world they should all do something to save the climate?!
hell, they did it at live8 i.e. in this hand we save africa ... and in the other hand we kill africans via our enormous carbon footprints
get real ... deal with your footprint first ... walk the talk before you use the opportunity to sell more of your music and thereby add to your footprint ... come on madonna, show us a real confession on your dancefloor ... all these stars could spare a £million each to invest into a clean energy scenario that would offset all their emissions, past and present
show us all what leadership really means ... that includes you gore ... you were great at waking the world up to the threat ... now show us the real deal, starting with your own home, your flights ... the whole 9 yards

it seems foolish to yell at people for doing something to solve a problem you care about even if you doubt their reasons.
if madonna can sell some albums while she convinces a million kids to consider the issue of climate change it doesn't bother me.
