Eco Touch: Waterless Carwash
by EcoGeek.org on 04. 4.07
Eco Touch is providing an old product to a new market. While waterless car washing products have been available for over a decade, demand for them in America has been slight. While similar products have taken off in areas with strict water regulations like the UK and Australia, America has been slow on the uptake.
Eco Touch is hoping that waterless car washing systems will ride into America with the latest wave of environmental concern. The Eco Touch waterless car care system is cheap, easy and contains no petro-chemicals. Each bottle can wash dozens of cars to near-show-room shine and will thus save thousands of gallons of water while keeping the toxic grime from your car out of lakes and rivers.
For an extra five dollars, you can buy five re-usable micro-fiber towels, and if you're not sure if you trust the system, you can get a free sample bottle from ecotouch.net for just the cost of shipping.

this is a convenient solution to lacking a hose and driveway, since i live in an apartment. is this product available in stores?
Thanks for showing this product! I live in an apartment and it's always a problem for me to wash my car as there's no where I could wash my car with and I ended up wasting money on commercial car wash(and not to mention the unbelievable amount of water automatic car washers waste!) Now I can finally wash my car again while saving $$ and water!
Want to know why these have not caught on here? They suck. All of them require the use of a "microfiber dirt catching magic towel". What this really means is it uses the fine dust/dirt particles on your clear coat as a sanding compound, effectively reducing your clear coat to a hell of micro-scratches. If you don't much care about how your clear coat looks, then this stuff is for you.
So, want a green-ish way of actually washing your car? Rainwater catch barrel and small plug-in pressure washer. Or, if you can park your car at a point below the barrel, you can just use gravity. Won't be like a garden hose, but will serve the purpose. If you still need some pressure for dirtier spots that you want to rinse off before hitting with a sponge: hand pump garden sprayer, available in many sizes.
Rainwater is the best as it has no dissolved minerals which cause spotting.
Of course you can just go to a local touch-less (spray style only) car wash as they have to recycle their water anyway.
I've been washing my car for decades without a hose.
I use a bucket of hot water and a car wash mitt. Dip the mitt into the water and wring it out very dry. Wipe the car, no drying needed except for the windows. No hose, no chemicals, sparkling clean paint and windows. 3/4's of the water remains in the bucket when you're done which you can pour on the lawn.
Oh George, shame on you for thinking on your own.
Thanks for the feedback! The product isn't available in stores...yet : )
If you read the Eco Touch website you'll see it's intended for lightly-moderately dirty cars. So, the only risk you have of scratching/swirling is if you head out to your car thinking the product will take off anything you throw at it. I encourage you to first try the 4oz sample bottle offered on the website before prejudging. Thanks!
hi.. i actually have tried using a waterless car wash and i love it. i don't know about this eco touch, but i buy Detail Magic's waterlss wash and wax and home depot. one bottle does about 8-10 washes and it costs less than 20 bucks.
in reply to the guy saying that it will scratch your car, it does not. i actually read a study from the univ. of texas saying that when you wash with a sponge THAT leaves scratches all over your car. that's not the case if you are to use a microfiber mitt; just some food for thought.
This Eco Touch Waterless Car Wash rocks!! I saw they have some new products too for interior car cleaning including a dashboard, carpet and metal polish.
I tried using this eco crap once and didn't like it at all. I"ve since begun using Detail Magic's waterless wash and wax and I'm in LOVE with it.
You're able to wash AND wax in one easy step and you're done in less than fifteen minutes. The best part about it is that one bottle gives you about 7-10 washes. That averages out to about 2 dollars a wash. You just can't beat that. I believe you can pick it up at the Home Depot.
