Science Worlds
reports that Britain will see the launch of a new car company next week that aims to be the most sustainable in Europe. Axon Automotive, based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, will make their debut at the Sexy Green Car Show show at the Eden Project in Cornwall. The Axon Eco-M edition is based on a Caterham 7 Classic and uses the standard 1.4 liter engine. However, to improve its aerodynamics and reduce its weight Axon have done away with the roof, windscreen and more, and brought in new lightweight components made from recycled carbon fiber. The technique for recycling carbon fire, previously thought to be impossible, has been developed by British company Milled Carbon.

Not to be a naysayer, but this is another example of a car few people would buy. Why even bother making it 100 mpg if it can't even keep you dry from the rain. If a green car can't make an inpact by selling enough of them, why even go to the trouble of making it? Cars have a purpose, and that's to transport people in a safe maner. This car isn't safe. You need to wear a helmet or risk getting bugs in your teeth! Seriously, can you see your grandmother driving this car? Com'on people, make something worthwhile.

Why bother making it? Because it looks just like the classic Lotus Seven! Bwwwwaaaah!!!!

I'm happy to see Caterham making an exciting & efficient car. While my 86 yr old grandma may not use it, I would. I'd gladly wear a helmet to get to drive this wild car.

Not practical maybe, but if they sell enough they could be good contenders for the automotive X-prize.

I think some of the other entries will have large difficulty in selling enough cars to qualify.

Interesting,

I have seen dozens of designs of more efficient vehicles, and this has to be one of the most ugly and impractible yet. Anyone know the price range, I need a laugh. lol

I would really like to know what components where used in this build. I'm looking at building a Caterham 7 for a Sunday drive vehicle. If I can make it electric, something close to the X1 prototype that Ian Wright from WrightSpeed (which by the way is the fastest car, one under the Bucatti), that would really be cool.
