Free Paper EcoHangers Replace Wire Hangers

If you've ever done dry cleaning, you've probably noticed the wire hangers that come with every piece of clothing returned to you. About 3.5 billion of them escape from closets around the country and end up in landfills. The EcoHanger was created as alternative — it's made of 100% recycled paper and pays for itself with advertising. Basically, dry cleaning companies get the hangers for free because of the direct marketing ads on the hangers. So far, EcoHangers have appeared in New York, San Francisco and other large cities. The distributor, HangerNetwork, is trying to get more dry cleaners to use the new hangers. :: Via Green Options via CNET

The ultimate solution would be reusable hangers. Put a $.10 deposit on nicer hangers, redeemable next time you did your dry cleaning.

This is a step in the right direction though.

Hey guys: watch those claims. You say the ecohangers are 100% recycled paper, but they sure don't look like it to me. They are surfcaed with polymer; must be at least 5% polyethylene or polyurethane in there. Better get it right.

Ii saw these ecohangers at my cleaner. pretty cool. nice ads. I'd rather have these in my closet than those ugly wire ones. this one seem to be so obvious. wish i'd thought of that.

You mention "Free paper Hangers" on your Web page. We have three dry cleaning stores and would like to know where and how the free hangers can be obtained.

Thank you.

how do we get these hangers?

For those in north-west London, my dry-cleaning company provides nice wooden hangers for a small initial fee which are subsequently recycled.

In addition, the customers can choose to receive their clothes with or without the plastic wrapping - indeed most choose without.

FYI: this company rocks. We encourage all our clients to use eco friendly / sweatshop free promotional products and these guys deliver.
