TreeHugger Green Job Board - Free Postings!
by Michael Graham Richard, Gatineau, Canada on 01. 1.07

Our green job board is undergoing a bit of a transition right now. Jobthread people are working on making the look match our new design, and we want to make it the place to look for a green job, or post a job listing to find employees for a green job.
So effective immediately, posting on our job board are free, and it should stay that way for a while.
We want employers to be able to find people who are really interested in the environment for their green jobs, and there's no better place for that than TreeHugger. We want our readers who are looking for a job that better match their beliefs & interests to have a convenient central location where to look. So use our job board (it's free!), spread the word, and we wish you to find a great life-changing job that is also world-changing!

As you are already working on that area of the site, what is the chance of a slight modification allowing potential employees to post job search ads expressing interest in finding a green job?

editor note: Would have to ask the Jobthread people if that's possible. It could potentially be a separate section.. Thanks for the suggestion!
I second that... an area to post CVs/resumes would be great!
Another request for your likely very-busy Jobthread people . . . can you add a job category for writing jobs? I myself am a writer and try to bid on writing gigs that feature environmental topics, opportunities, or other related content.
Thanks!
What if we had an interactive database with delimiters for skills, location, resources, etc. so we could readily network our efforts? Or, what if one could post potential collaborative project proposals? For example, if someone living in the DRC wanted to develop solar power there but needed help from an experienced engineer to design the system, a grant-writer to secure funding, and a French-speaking electrician to spend several weeks on-site to install and train people for maintenance; he or she could enter all this into the system and search for people with the necessary skills.
What if this could be arranged at a larger level as well with companies? Say a large corporation with offices in six countries would like to put green roofs on all their facilities but needs know-how and proposals (or, someone within that corporation would like to convince management to do so). Could there be a way for the company propose and attract people with the skills to do this?
Could it work the other way as well? Could a group of people with these skills come together with a proposal for specific companies and industries to go green then approach that company or industry?
This may be outside the purview of Treehugger's job board; but why not set of an NGO that acts as a think tank for the greening of specific industries, cities, or companies? People with the skills would volunteer their efforts as in-kind donations, the result would be "open source" ideas for environmental action (this as opposed to "in-house" consulting which may solve specific problems for one company but may or may not be heard of widely).
