Sundance Channel Sees GREEN

TreeHugger just returned from the Television Critic’s Association in Pasadena, CA where Sundance Channel announced THE GREEN, a new weekly television block focusing on environmental topics that launches on April 17, 2007 at 9pm.
THE GREEN will feature the original series “Big Ideas for a Small Planet” produced by Scout Productions (the makers of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" and The Fog of War), covering topics ranging from green building and design to eco-fashion and sustainable cities. The 13 part series will be part of a bigger 3 hour block of weekly programming about living the vida verde that includes documentaries and short films (the juicy green details of which can be found here).
THE GREEN will be presented by Robert Redford and hosted by environmental justice luminary Majora Carter and yours truly. If you don’t know who Majora is, you should. She is a MacArthur Fellow and the founder and executive director of Sustainable South Bronx, a community organization dedicated to the implementation of sustainable development projects in the South Bronx that are informed by the needs of community and values of environmental justice.
No need for me to elaborate, Majora does it so much better in her TED segment on Greening the Ghetto. Look for our TreeHugger Radio interview with Majora in the weeks ahead.
