Concerning "Want even better mileage from that hybrid? Six tips on how to squeeze out a few more MPG…"

It says that all cars need to warm up in the winter to protect their vital engine parts. This is blatantly false. Cars don't need warm-up time anymore.

I love bamboo.

It seems that most of the bamboo products are from China.

I always have this nagging thought about the fact that wonderful
products are being manufactured from a beautiful and sustainable source, yet being shipped thousands of miles
(= thousands of gallons of fuel).

Bamboo grows in the U.S. (where I live) - I know Florida
for sure, and I'm guessing possibly Hawaii.
Are there any domestic manufacturing bases in the US?
Or at least developing?

I'm big on buying local - I feel the imported bamboo
has a serious tradeoff.

Peggy,

This has been discussed in the past. Bamboo is loved by many, but stateside the best thing is to do sustainable harvested, reclaimed, or in another recycled wood.

I love bamboo too, actually I think most wood things are so much better then cheap plastic. So I'd love to see what you wanted to be accomplished.

Check the archive, maybe you'll have better luck then I.

Just saw comments on bamboo; did you know there are fabrics that are made out of bamboo (sheets, clothes...)? Cool, huh! PS - bamboo floors are GORGEOUS!
