Good Enough to Eat

blackberries.jpg There are so many natural skin products on the market that it is tricky to figure out which to choose. Finnish women have beautiful, pale, flawless complexions, despite the harsh winters. So here is skin cream from Finland with luscious ingredients that sound so, well, Nordic, that it is hard to resist. Lumene creams contain natural plants from the Arctic circle of Finnish Lapland, such as Arctic blackcurrant, cloudberry, cranberry and Arctic Sea Buckthorn. Other ingredients include Arctic Peat, spring water, water lily nectar and pine and willow bark extract. Lumene claims that the clean rivers, forests and marshlands of the Arctic Circle contain rare flora, with special nutrients not found anywhere else. The Arctic cloudberry - a precious yellow berry from the Arctic circle - is not only the most nutritious of the wild berries, but was so valued by the last nomadic people of Europe, the Sami, that theft of the berries stocked for winter was much feared. Lumene don't do animal testing, and they use recyclable materials and a minimum of packaging. And does it work? Who knows, but worth a try for those in northern climes. :: Lumene

I love these products! When I lived in Kyrgyzstan I found these available at the local equivalent of a department store in Karakol. I never could read the ingredients, but seeing as I lived through a winter with a solid month at 40 below and my skin never suffered I was hooked. I looked about a bit once back in the states and never found them and since then I had forgotten all about these until this morning when I read this post. I think I used the sensitive skin line as well as the sun products and makeup.

I lived in Finland for a number of years and my wife is Finnish, so I have seen my fair share of Finnish female skin. My wife is beautiful and has beautiful, pale skin. But it is not flawless. Finnish women have skin like other European women, main difference being that it is very pale - from lack of sun. Of course, my wife doesn't use this product for moisturizing her skin - but she does pick and eat a lot of those berries when she is in Finland. Living in Spain as we do, she uses a lot of olive oil.
