Grove Mill Winery: World's First Carbon-Neutral Wine

We've posted about lots of organic wines and even dedicated a TreeHugger TV episode to the subject. Alternately, there isn't much that hasn't made headlines around here for being carbon-neutral, but the two have never mixed until now. New Zealand's Grove Mill winery claims to be the first in the world to do so, from grape to table, after being established in 1988 with the goal to to produce premium quality wines with minimal environmental impact. The winery has worked to reduce their carbon footprint and offset the remaining emissions through the CarboNZero certification program. Their TreeHugging efforts don't stop their, though, with habitat restoration, greywater recycling and organic mulch as fertilizer helping accredit the winery with Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand for its practices in the winery and vineyards. The winery produces Chardonnay, Late Harvest GewurztraminerRiesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, and export them around the globe. ::Grove Mill Winery via ::Hippyshopper
