Vinyl Fruit Bowls

If you are looking for something to do with all those old records…here’s what one designer came up with. A vinyl fruit bowl made of recycled discs. Each one uses a different record; thus each is unique. They are hand-made. One record is the top and the other is fused to it, with legs pulled out to make a stand-up base. You can supply your own choice of albums, if you wish. Imagine matching bowls: John and Yoko, Frank Sinatra and Madonna, the combinations are endless. :: Paul Cocksedge

Aren't these Vinyl, so isn't that PVC, or is this PVA, or perhaps the much less known, but more freightening PVF?

Theres another designer in the US who has been making records into bowls for about the last decade, pretty sure you could find them on a variety of design sites.

I thought vinyl wasn't a food grade material for a container?

I'm with you guys...I wouldn't put food in anything made of vinyl!

Seems like this idea is at least more than seventy years old. Pretty interesting.
