First LEED-H house certified in Western US

LEED buildings are coming so thick and fast that we don't even bother covering them anymore unless they are remarkable; LEED-H (LEED for Homes) are thinner on the ground. First in the west is Tom Kelly's home. Tom is a residential builder, and most of his ilk live in monster homes; they have access to, shall we say, competitive pricing. Tom has gone for a modestly sized (LEED penalizes monster homes, unlike Energuide) 1,932 square foot "net zero energy" house that draws no more energy from the grid than it sends to it. It has a green roof, 2,320 watts of photovoltaics, natural ventilation and recycled wood. Read more in ::New York Times
