Life Can Be So Car-Free (Even in Los Angeles)

I recently fled LA and settled in Nashville (never mind what my bio says), and one of the things I was saddest to leave behind was my beloved Midnight Ridazz, our (now huge!) monthly themed/costumed carnival of kindly cycle debauchery and glee. Despite a reputation as a bikeless car hell, LA is home to a thriving bike culture (just check out the BikeBoom calendar, Daryl’s recent vlog entry, and Kyeann’s Hollywood Bike Patrol for a tasty taste). Another spoke in LA’s bike circle is C.I.C.L.E., or Cyclists Inciting Change Through Live Exchange. They’ve got an upcoming even called Life Can Be So Car-Free that sounds like a ton of fun. Only wish I could be there. To be held on Sept. 30th at the new Los Angeles State Historic Park (where the Not a Cornfield used to be), the event will of a night full of of film, live music, interpretive walks, rides and fun, celebrating and demonstrating car-free and car-lite transportation choices.” For more info, check out the C.I.C.L.E. site and peruse their rad collection of cyclocentric T-Shirts (including the graphic above--at least one of ‘em is OG), graphics, bike news, commuter tips, and lots more good stuff. :: C.I.C.L.E.
