At the end of this month the French Design Centre Rhone-Alps will be hosting the 3rd Eco-design conference. This year the one day event will focus on Cradle to Cradle design, which is apparently not a design practice well known in France. To get the message across there will be presentations from names well known around these parts, such as Herman Miller and Electrolux. Others we haven’t covered in past, include Riochem, a Welsh chemical testing company who are giving a talk in concert with the design incubator, Design Wales. Another presenter is the German based EPEA. You may not have heard so much of the latter, but the Environmental Protection Encouragement Agency, a scientific research institute, was founded in Hamburg, by Dr. Michael Braungart back in 1987. Michael is coauthor of the book, Cradle to Cradle, along with with the much more publicised William McDonough. The 28 September conference will be free, though its in French, with English translation. ::EcoDesign 2006 (French), via Dexigner.
