After a week's hiatus, bike patrol is back with juicy pics and lots of Gawker Stalker celeb biking sightings. Don't forget to send your tips to kyeann(at)treehugger(dot)com. In this week's edition: Elle MacPherson, Audrey Hepburn, Madonna, Chloe Sevigny, Matthew Modine (double dose), David Byrne.
This is the second time Ms. Sevigny has been caught by the patrol. Maybe we'll start a Cloe on Bikes spin-off? The shots of Audrey, Elle, and Madonna could serve as a study in Hollywood biking for the ages. Some of us prefer the Elle baby seat shot to the vintage bedroom poster Elle... while others of us suddenly wonder what it would be like to be a bike...

From our friends at Gawker:
August 31
Today, Matthew Modine almost ran over me with his bicycle on MacDougal between W. 3rd and Bleeker. He shot me a look as if I was in the wrong for crossing in the middle of the street. If I hadn't seen Vision Quest, I might have tried to knock him off his bike.

On the corner of 2nd Avenue and 5th street, Chloe Sevigny rides up on bicycle, and comes to a stop, as she hits a red light. Kindly waits for pedestrians to cross the street. Wearing a black and white stripe shirt, white overall shorts (yep!), and big white reading glasses. Chloe style...

5pm, 18th St & 8th Ave., a blonde Matthew Modine was dressed for the neighborhood in manpris, a blue polo, and matching baseball cap. He was riding on top of his beach cruiser bicycle, talking shop in the street with a portly Latino man. All i got was how it was too bad, because some show had had a really long run. Did I mention he looked positively flaming?
August 4
David Byrne, with two ladies, ordered three drinks and left a $1 tip at Fontana's. He was wearing a backpack and carrying a bicycle helmet.

Sorry, I'm with Modine on this. Sounds like he had right of way. Bet this guy wouldn't have tried the same thing with a H2.
Yeah, it is weird that a J-walker would think a biker should slow down. On the other hand, I've been noticing an odd disregard for pedistrians among cyclists in the last few weeks, as though "share the road" does not include us. On numerous occasions, cars have rightly given me tons of berth on a cross walk while a bike will whiz by in sort of dangerous proximity. I know there's a lot to think about when you're riding, but pedistrians should be among those thoughts.
