LG FM20 MP3 Player
by Christine Lepisto, Berlin on 09.23.06

Here is a cute little MP3 player which can boast lead-free electronics (possibly due to the restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) regulations in Europe?). Although this design could simply rest calmly in the raked sand of your Japanese desktop zen garden, this little device would prefer to be entertaining you with MP3, MP3 VBR, WMA, OGG, WAV, ASF audio files, or simply tuning in to your local AM or FM station. It's lithium-ion battery is rechargeable and lasts up to 20 hours. The data viewer is visible when lit, but difficult to see in the side of the player when not in use. The FM20 is available in black, violet, gold, and blue and can have 256MB, 512MB or 1 GB capacity. A music therapy function will de-link the user from the chaos of the modern world with a meditative noise bath called a "brain shower". Another setting allows the equalizer to tune itself automatically according to the ID3 tags of the MP3 file being played. Definitely on the market in Canada and China, a country search of the LG website suggests it could be difficult to find elsewhere. The cost is approximately $90 Canadian, discounted from $130.

Are you kidding? There are tons of lead-free electronic things now. There doesn't seem to be any particular green feature to this player at all.
