SunTrap Handbag

0%2C%2C2005440259%2C00.jpgDesigner Rosanna Kilfedder's handbag self-illuminates and charges digi-toys. If this SunTrap prototype goes commercial, its presence would signal the wired, urbane omnivoress. Unless the design tips toward a non-mamalian envelope, like one of these. See also: a much earlier post on the "power bag" concept. From the Online Sun, via: Wired NextFest. "The lining lights up automatically when the bag is opened and continues to glow for 15 seconds". "It switches off again to conserve energy when this time is up or after the zip is closed".
Picture after the fold.

"The Sun Trap bag's battery can also be used to re-charge a mobile phone".

I think this is a really cool concept, and I would love to find out when it's on the market... But the flash website has one of my major web design pet peeves. You can figure out what her e-mail address is by clicking a certain link, which pulls up Outlook (or some other such program). And if you don't use Outlook? You're SOL.

This is an interesting concept, but I'd like to see the main body of the bag made from something like hemp or a recycled substance. Leather is anything but an environmentally friendly material!
