MBDC Issues 17 Sustainable Certifications

Product and process design consulting firm McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (read more here and here) has bestowed 17 coveted Cradle to Cradle Certifications, indicating "significant, tangible progress in designing more environmentally sustaining products.” The list includes the usual suspects—Herman Miller and Steelcase—as well as Energy Barriers; Victor Innovatex; Hi-Tex; MechoShade Systems; Mission Rubber Company; Icestone; Metro; CENTRIA; and Begley's Best. Products range from seating (Herman Miller, Steelcase, Metro) to fabric coating (Hi-Tex) to window shades (MechoShade) to all purpose cleaner (Begley’s Best). Shown here is the Mirra chair by Herman Miller, which earned Gold, the highest Cradle to Cradle rating issued. The complete list of certifications is below:
