In the U.S., the annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo is THE sustainable construction conference. Held in Denver from November 15-17, the 2006 event will present more than 700 exhibitors to a crowd of more than 10,000 global attendees. Not only can you check out first hand the most current green building technologies, you can also hear from several key players in the sustainable construction industry. Keynote speakers (read about them here) include architect and sustainable leader William McDonough (who we are lucky enough to have as a judge for our Umbrella Inside Out contest); Jeffrey Sachs, author of The End of Poverty: Economic Possibilities for Our Time; and scientist and environmentalist Dr. David Suzuki. I had the opportunity to hear Suzuki deliver an impassioned, crowd-invigorating call-to-action speech last May, to a crowd of architectural lighting professionals, and he is fantastic. More speakers are listed here. Thanks tipster Nick Aster. ::Greenbuild
