Tune in to the Today Show on Monday July 17 to see the finalists for the Brad Pitt/Global Green sponsored New Orleans green building design contest. Three to six finalists from Stage I (proposal development and submittal) will go on to participate in Stage II of the competition when they will work with local architects and community groups to create a plan for a selected areas in different neighborhoods of the city. They will design single-family housing and a community facility in the neighborhood, as well as environmental and community features. A jury (actually two - a technical and a design jury) will select the final winner, but the public is invited to submit votes for the best design project.

Jurors are looking for designs that: demonstrate advanced yet achievable solutions for sustainable development and construction of each component of the design challenge; develop innovative, progressive architectural and planning solutions that respect and draw from the rich design heritage of New Orleans; incorporate the latest construction and energy saving technologies; and balance sustainability and affordability in a productive dialogue.

Catch a sneak peek of an interview about the contest w/ Brad Pitt and Ann Curry at the Today Show website (be warned, viewing the video requires annoying download of Microsoft© Internet Explorer 6, Microsoft© Media Player 10, and Macromedia Flash 6). ::Global Green

This is a sincere and honest question, everyone is always talking about "New Orleans". 1.Why do I not here about Missisippi. 2. What are you and others doing to help rebuild MS?

I believe this is just what the green movement needs. Smart, practical, just, and sustainable design that meet our most basic needs. Inspiring, good job. Our government is not doing it so I commend the other powerful people who do so.
