After posting about biofuel mapping, we learned about Renewable Planet, " a free and accessible resource that highlights the number and variety of renewable energy projects from around the world. Here is an opportunity to celebrate and learn about the impact individuals and organizations have already made and continue to make as part of the renewable energy community." Just in our area, we found wind farms, biofuel companies like Iogen, and TreeHugger faves like Stratus Wineries. One clicks on the symbol and gets all kinds of useful information and links. (here we clicked on the Melacthon wind farm) They promise to add biofuel sources and look for contributions from individuals or businesses to expand the detail and texture of the mapping- plan your next green bicycle tour here. ::Renewable Planet

Hello, my name is Krysta and I was extremely happy to see your posted article on Renewable Planet: Mapping Green. I checked the site out and it is REALLY handy and quite useful. I love how you can search for any solar, wind, biomass and other energy related companies & locations in one convenient site. Great article!

Thanks so much!

great site! It would be great to highlight and search for organizations and initiatives besides renewable energy - ie LEED buildings, local sustainable businesses (ie car sharing, enviro restaurants). One idea that has been done in print but not yet translated for online google map searches is the green map system (http://www.greenmap.com). An example of one greenmap was done by a citizens group in Calgary http://www.sustainablecalgary.ca/greenmap/greenmap.htm

being able to search using google to make such green maps online could be great way to leverage educational efforts
