Even on sale that stuff is WAY overpriced. I don't care how green it is if it's unaffordable.
Beg to differ. "Overpriced" suggests an inordinate markup, and that is not why "green" products typically cost more in the market. Think about where your goods are made, think about what they're made of, and think about by whom they're made and you should realize that green products are priced more closely to their true value than their "conventional" counterparts. Big brands have massive buying power, utilize cheap (and often exploitative) labor, and don't pay a lick for the ecological or social damage their business practices inflict.
