General Electric Opens Wind Turbine Plant in China

ge-wind-china-01.jpgGeneral Electric (GE) Energy announced on June 28 the official opening of their first wind turbine assembly plant in China. It is located in Shenyang and will produce 1.5 megawatt turbines. The first unit was completed in late March 2006 and the delivery of the first units is expected by July. "Our world-class wind turbine assembly facility in China builds on the success and experience of our wind factory in Salzbergen, Germany and adds to our ability to support growing customer demand in the renewable energy segment," said Victor Abate, vice president of renewable energy for GE Energy.

Wind power is expected to play a significant role in supporting China's national target to create 30 gigawatts of new, renewable energy capacity by 2020. With a potential wind power capacity of 250 gigawatts onshore and 750 gigawatts offshore [learn more about it here], China holds the largest wind resource of any country in the world.

Over the past two years, GE has committed a total of 700 megawatts of its advanced wind turbine technology for China, which can power approximately 700,000 Chinese homes – while preventing future carbon dioxide emissions of more than 1.4 million tons per year.[...]

GE's 1.5-megawatt wind turbines, the largest capacity units installed in China, are among the world's most widely sold turbines in the megawatt class, with approximately 4,500 installed worldwide. These units are becoming well-established in Asia, with 1,040 megawatts of capacity committed for wind power projects in the region.

This is great to see. China's energy choices will affect us all. Air pollution from Chinese power plants is already affecting the western U.S.

GE- cheese wiz- ba hum bug.
Joke is they use more power to swing the blades than the generate on the grid. GE makes more money selling parts than power generated.
Old cows should be put out to pasture.
Gear box blasters by GE- Make no cents to invest in with tax payers USD...

Think on how much energy is used to swing that blade. how much energy moves past that machine.
how much energy is placed on the grid ( not a lot).
how much energy is put to repair these props on sticks yearly. $$$$$$$$$ way too much...
How many ready ton install are sitting in warehouses world wide looking for a leap in price before sold ( way to many) inspect gismo knows do you know? fact is GE- Big name just playing a game with us.

GE Imaging all the wind turbine sitting in storage now. Imagine all the GE wind turbine waiting for repair. imagine all the broked gearbox Ge put on a pole. Image all the money waiste by GE_
