Recycled Paper Side Table by Gagnon Studio
by Justin Thomas, Virginia on 06.18.06

From Matt Gagnon Studio, comes this Recycled Paper Table. Readers may remember Gagnon's green loft renovation project last year. Similar to the full sized table that came before it, this table is a smaller, more affordable version, measuring 20”(h) x 15”(l) x 13”(w). It is handmade from 100% post-consumer recycled paper board. The slots on the side of the table can also be used for storage, and the table is equally functional standing upright (pictured) or on its side. :: Via productdose

Whenever I see a fantastic product like this on Treehugger I think "great, let me see if I can get one" but I inevitably find that the price is something ridiculous like $2,798.00 for a 20" table!!!
Come on, if people would take this Enviro-friendly thing seriously instead of trying to sell it as art or something, the price should be more along the lines of $100. Then I could take it more seriously
and perhaps buy one.
I totally concur with the previous poster. And it's a problem also acknowledged by the CEO of Seventh Generation.
The proliferation of eco-friendly, sustainable products isn't going to happen until "green" products are affordable for the common person and not reserved solely for the wealthy.
In fact, attention to products like this does more to hurt our mission than promote it. In fact, promoting products like this is nothing more than an advertisement for continued consumerism!
I work for a restaurant that has decided to become more sustainable. We use larger butcher block style paper on our tables and are looking for post consumer recycled paper in this size. So far my searching hasn't come up with much. Does anyone know of any companies that sell this product? Thanks.
