FiveLimes.com: A New Place to Shop Responsibly
by Collin Dunn, Corvallis, OR, USA on 06. 2.06

Though not quite live just yet, FiveLimes.com has designs to present a fresh twist on shopping. The idea is simple: "Help make this world a better place. Shop across thousands of merchants all selling the latest and greatest eco-friendly products & services." To entertain anyone who comes to their site before the launch, they do have a pretty slick little calculator that multiplies number of drivers by hybrid car carbon-dioxide and gas savings for some impressive numbers. For example, if 53,125 people were to go out and pick up a hybrid, 128,617 tons of CO2 would be saved each year, along with $38,037,836 in gas. They also have a blog to keep us updated on their pre-launch progress, and a way to sign up for their newsletter so you'll be among the first to know when they go live. Looks like a good idea, along the same lines as TH buddy Alonovo. We're waiting with baited breath...::FiveLimes via ::Hugg

What kind of worm is your breath baited with?
My hybrid gets much better mileage than the ones they're promoting, though... it's a Giant Nutra. I don't wait with bated breath, though, for the media to begin to entertain the idea that something besides the sacred cow could be considered for prizes or tax breaks or what have you.
It's wonderful to have a site like Treehugger recognize the importance of a shopping site such as Fivelimes.com. Great to see buzz for something that has not even officially launched...let the green flag waving begin!
I think Fivelimes is positioning itself nicely in this newish market. If they can execute on their claims, then they'll be riding the wave in no time.
You can add Fivelimes.com to the dead green pool.. Looks like someone forgot to pay for domain renewal and it's full of spammy links that have nothing whatsoever to do with green and sustainable living.. =/
