The Alternative Energy Blog has a list of the top 10 green power utilities in the US. Number one is Austin Energy (see our post about the city of Austin) and number two is Portland General Electric (see our post about Portland). Looking at the list, two things are clear: 1) There's still a long way to go before a significant portion of the USA's energy supply comes from clean sources 2) If you are in the USA, you should do something about it and have a look at this map of green energy providers by state and contact your elected representatives to let them about your energy-related concerns.

That list is indicative of how pitiful we really are with regards to "alternative energy" utilities. A utility company, such as Utah Power, offering "alternative" energy at a premium to customers does not make a "green utility" in my mind. A "green utility" is one that gleans most, if not all, of it's energy from "alternative" sources and offers it to customers at the same, or lower cost of traditional.

We got a long way to go yet.

why isn't Wyoming on your list? I am looking at bgetting a government grant to buy land there since my ancestors are from there? I am wanting to go 100% GREEN..organic food and green energy.I am a Native Indian (American Indian) and i personally am appolled by what the government is doing, and has been doing for years about the global warming ,and the dependency on fossil fuelsand now there is more since they found oil in Africa. My ancestors were murdered, massacred, and raped so that people like the government can dictate what we eat,put in our cars, and teach our next generation. I one of the last Black Kettle Cheyenne am totally appolled by this.Cystic fibrosis, diabetes, obesity, cancer, degenerative heart failure, etcetra are caused by the chemicals the government allows the food companies to put in our food and that is why i am making my own when i get my farm going.THANK YOU for reading my comments.

Even though Man Made Global Warming is pure bull hockey, it doesnt hurt to try to go green. In the long run it will be better.

Just remember, Global Warming is solar in nature, and we cannot affect the sun.

So do your part, but dont let the jackals in the capitol scare you into doing it. Remember they are all about big business and making a buck, and Global Warming has now become big business.
