SeaSalt Organic Clothing
by Warren McLaren, Sydney on 05.26.06

Continuing on our trio of UK organic cotton firsts from yesterday. Seasalt believe they are the first fashion brand to have clothing certified by the UK’s revered Soil Association. Their organic cotton is sourced from Turkey. The new line of clothing is currently available online, and through selected outlets, with the first Seasalt retail store due to open in Totnes next month. No doubt they’ll be stock items like the Elkie Polo Shirt seen here (left) at £27. Their vision is “to make organic cotton as popular as organic food” and “whenever we can, if it possible to produce a garment in a more environmentally friendly way, we will ... .” At the rate the organic food market is booming in the UK that’s a worthy ambition. They envisage their market niche as being ‘environmentally friendly, bright, fashionable, fun clothing.’ ::Seasalt.
