TreeHugger is a big fan of energy-efficient lighting. LEDs and compact fluorescent bulbs have graced these pages many, many times, so we like to see designers who get this and create products that help us get the message across. These lampshades, called Delight (the one with the butterflies) and Coron are part of the UK's Mixko Hat Trick collection, and are made from wool felt hats. The material is delicate enough that a bulb over 20 Watts will cause the shade to "melt" and deform, so energy-efficient light bulbs are a must to keep these jazzy fixtures looking their best. We recommend compact fluorescents; here is a quick reference guide for CFLs and some handy user tips as well. ::Mixko via ::Better Living Through Design

From the looks of the picture, it's imaginable that the material could deform and melt right onto the lightbulb.. and what then? It may very well be safe, but how many will do research beyond a glance? The idea of a potentially melty shade drooping onto the lightbulb isn't appealing. Perhaps if the material above the height of the bulb were different and more solid-looking, I'd give it more consideration.

Hi, Thank you for featuring my work.

I have been using this lampshade for 2 years and hasn't deformed or "melted" as you describe. The shade has been stiffened well and it will never deform with any bulb upto 20w.

I believe no one has bed room light on 24-7?
