Eco-Tip: Lemons Help Hands Too

Just as lemons whiten your whites naturally, they help with your post-winter skin naturally also. Instead of purchasing an expensive hand treatment to soften and brighten your skin, try this homemade solution that works overnight. It consists of sugar that gently sloughs away rough patches, coconut oil that moisturizes and lemon juice that lightens pigment discoloration and brightens skin. We bet it works for feet as well if you’re getting them ready to make their debut for the beach season.
You’ll need:
½ cup coconut oil
½ cup sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
Cotton gloves
Directions:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Rub the mixture over your hands for at least 1 minute, scrubbing like you were washing them. Use a paper towel to brush any excess sugar from your skin. Slide your hands into the gloves and leave them on overnight. By morning, the oil should be absorbed and your hands will be ready to start the day.

Please folks under no circumstances should you substitute lime peel for lemon peel in skin care: there is a common enough severe contact dermatitis caused by cumulative exposure to lime in those susceptible to this problem. I love eating limes in dishes and beverages but I try to avoid contact with limes.
I tried this and it works incredibly well! Just make sure you don't have any paper cuts like I did, OUCH!!
Thanks. I never knew that about limes. Be careful to wash this off thoroughly as citrus can make skin photosensitive.
