MSI's Solar Powered MP3 Player Debuted

MSI has debuted their solar powered "MP3 Mega Player 540" at a recent electronics show, CeBIT 2006. The player has a solar panel on the back to recharge its lithium-ion battery. The question here is whether that small solar panel will catch enough rays to do any serious charging. The player also sports a 4GB storage capacity, an FM radio and a photo browser. The production model is supposed to becoming out at the end of the year. See this previous article, where we mentioned the player and other solar gadgets coming out. :: Via Mobile Mag

The prototype certainly looks cute but the larger-is-better solar panel seems to be in direct competition with the smaller-is-better mp3 player.

How 'bout a solar-powered urban sombrero instead?

Hi Mike,
Thanks for spotting me with the mistake. I just missed placing the link before posting... ecofriend is facing a technical problem in making parmalinks to the treehugger posts. It is being able to, only the home page.

Anyways, thanks a lot and have a great day.

very nice. it can sit on your dashboard and charge up. They just need it in mobiles too.

Wow, how wonderful!! 4 gb is a pretty small storage capacity though, hopefully they'll come out with one with a lot of storage that could compete with ipods, etc.

I need a solar powered mp3 player that supports playing Flash lite 2.0 programs. Does the "MP3 Mega Player 540" do this?

It is to support folks playing my World literacy program where there is no access to electricity.
