Truss Collection by Context Furniture: Coming Soon!

Detroit-based Context Furniture have collaborated with designer Scott Klinker to produce a crisp line of flatpack seating, tables and desks. The collection, called Truss, will debut at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in May. Made from fused Baltic birch plywood, Truss includes cafe chairs, A-frame tables with coordinating benches, desks, children's chairs and occasional tables, and museum benches, with more case goods and shelving to follow later in 2006. Klinker's modular design approach makes it possible to horizontally link the desks, benches and A-frame tables into extended systems for offices, libraries, restaurants, schools and other contract situations; the digitally-programmed milling brings down pricing, making Truss affordable at the retail level for consumers. We think they'd look pretty good in your Flatpak house, too. More pictures after the jump. ::Context Furniture

nice designs, but i'm curious what is treehugger about them? furniture grade plywood is a sandwich of glue and high-value veneers that can't be mulched or safely burned. most off-gas formaldehyde. in c2c terms, it's a somewhat toxic, end-of-life product. it appears that there must be a good amount of waste in cutting these out too.
