The World's Highest Eco Station

Where’s the best place to measure all the pollution blowing in from smog-producing factories in China and India? How about Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain. This month, Italy opened an eco station on Everest’s 16,600-foot level, as reported by the ANSA news agency. The Italians carted 18 tons of equipment up the mountain by hand—a feat necessary due to the sensitivity of the measuring devices.
"Now we plan to get straight down to work on the United Nations' Atmospheric Brown Clouds program, gauging the spread and effect of the industrial emissions billowing out of China and India," says project leader Agostino Da Polenza. The Brown Clouds program was created to study pollution ("brown clouds" seems a particularly non-partial term to us...) and its impact on our health. Just a nitpick... I doubt the italians carried everything up by hand. More like they paid the local porters to do it for them
