Natural Products Expo West 2006 - Organic Martini Mixes

expowest4-01.jpg[This is part 4 of a series of guest posts by Siel from Green LA Girl. For more, see part 1, part 2 & part 3. -Ed.] So you already know your organic vodkas. You can tell your Orange V, Rain Vodka, and Vodka 14 apart in a blind taste test. And you've put in a pre-order for Square One Vodka.

But what do you mix it with?

If you're like us, you've been mixing organic vodka with not-so-organic mixers. Do you know what's in those mixers, exactly? Didn't think so. Neither do we!

Soon, you'll have modmix, organic cocktail mixers. At the Natural Products Expo West, we ran into the founder of modmix, Gretchen Nix. "A lot of my friends are really conscious and buy all organic food," she said. "But when we go out, they like to have a cocktail at a bar. And there really aren't any organic options out there -- yet."

modmix is made with raw, unrefined sugar and other organic ingredients. Gretchen, who's based in Los Angeles, has big plans for the launch -- Look out for yummy mixer options at your favorite hip, urban watering hole. And if you live in the LA area, you might want to try dropping Gretchen a line. Maybe you'll get invited to hang and imbibe at the green launch parties...

[A big "thanks" to Siel from Green LA Girl!]
