A few months back we we mentioned the problem of marine acidification by increased dissolution of atmospheric C02; and, we described what we thought was an optimistic approach for mitigating climate forcing and biotic impacts of too much atmospheric C02. The pictured abstract of a recent article in the journal Nature well describes the near term impacts of high ocean acidity. If you've not yet taken the time to become familiar with the Planktos project to mitigate it by increasing the rate of planktonic C02 conversion to carbonate (via aragonite), now would be a good time to read about it.
